We celebrate the life of this extraordinary man who I was lucky enough to call my grandfather. Us grandkids/great grandkids called him Poppa X.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve known him as a quiet man, a stoic man, a loving man, and an incredibly handsome man. But he was immensely humble and a great story teller.(memories of his life)

He was a man of tradition, a simple man who belonged to the past, to a long-forgotten era. A man who never asked too much from the world. And I adored him we adored him.

Our pop lived to be 95 years old. And what a life he lived.I remember at times just looking into his ancient eyes listening to his life stories and being captivated knowing darn well that these eyes had seen so much.

Whenever I gave him a hug or spoke to him or watched him with my kids, i saw my dad in him (damn he did a great job his kids with help from Nana 😉 ) .and I’m so glad I get a daily reminder of him 🩷

POP was, always rooting us on through life. He really was a special man. My eldest girl took a tip to see him and the stories that came back well let me say I missed a great trip as always he still had àll the jokes.

I’m going to miss the way he discribed all the chunks of wood he had a plan for.

I’m going to miss all the hugs that he was never too shy to give out.

I’m going to miss the sound of his voice and his laugh.

But most of all I’m going to miss the way his eyes sparkled telling his stories.

As we celebrate this great man I just want to leave you with the heartfelt words of the brilliant Albert Einstein: “Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children… For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life.”

    We love you, Pop.

Farewell Rex, now with your darling Val, and family members.
Thank you Rex for the memories of times shared with you over the years. The stories of your childhood day’s, life on the farm, your career paths, your courting of Val, travels that you and Val took, viewing and telling me all about your woodworking accolades, but most of all how very proud you are of your children ( Kevin, Chris and Kathy) and their partner’s, along with your Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Rest in Peace my dear friend
