Dear John. Words escape me as to what to say. I will really miss your laugh. I will miss seeing you on the couch. I’m glad you enjoyed me bringing in Kaiha. She enjoyed seeing you and the ladies at Lauriston. I think Sally will miss you too…. Jenny, no more conversations about who’s John he was. My only consolation is that you have left behind the physical body and mind that had you trapped and know you can be free again. Sending my love to you, Jenny and your family. Rest in paradise John.

Hi Deanne,
Thank you for your message. Yes, Dad had his spot on the couch and was very happy watching the quiz shows & funny movies.
He went peacefully and yes, his mind can now be at ease. Angela x

Dear Angela,Michelle and Wendy and Jenny
So very sorry to hear the news of Dad’s passing. Such heartbreak for you all. Dad was such a wonderful soul so full of life. Always considerate and so vey warm.
I can remember when he and Kerry came to stay many years go and Dad and Tigga [Golden Retriever] had a tug of war. Neither going to give in till eventually Kerry and I had to intervene an say it was a draw!! Gave such sound gardening advice and much assistance.
A delightful sense of humour and so full of energy.
I treasure the memories and times shared.
God bless and keep strong. Hold tight to all your happy times together.
May you rest in peace John with your beloved Kerry, and rise in glory
Fond love

Hi Mary,
Thank you for your kind words. I know Dad & Kerry enjoyed spending time with you. He was always a very busy man, so it was hard to see the decline with dementia.
But he went peacefully & was cared for so well at Lauriston Park.
Love back to you. Angela xx
Casey, Geoff and I recall, with great affection, the many fun visits with Kerry and John at Belmont and Glenroy. John was always the consummate host. When they visited us in London, Chatham, Melbourne and Great Falls, John was always the enthusiastic guest. The “night before you leave” beverage consumption between John and Larry became legendary.
We send our condolences, love and hugs to Michelle, Wendy, Angela and Mike along with all four grandsons and, of course, Jenny.
Rest in peace John; your match is over, your game well played.

Hi Dorry,
Thank you for your kind words. I know Dad enjoyed spending time with you all & I have fond memories of when I visited you all with Dad & Kerry, when I was 13.
Dad was a very social guy and this was reflected with the friends who could make the service, and all the groups he was involved with.
I hope all is well with you. Love Angela xx
To Michelle, Wendy and Angela, so sorry for your loss. We are so pleased to have got to meet your dad, a lovely man ( a little stubborn at times ) but we loved him for that. He will be greatly missed especially by Jenny. He was a great tour guide when we came over there and his last holiday with us was a great success ( even if he did cheat when playing card games) 😁it was so lovely to see him laughing . If any of you are ever passing through Wales our door is always open. With love to all your family Derek and Wendy
Hello Derek and Wendy, thank you for the lovely message. Dad loved sharing holidays with you both in New Zealand, and overseas. Jenny and Dad were sweet together. It was wonderful to see how happy they made each other. Dad often talked highly of you both. Thank you for everything you have done for Dad for the last ten years plus. Wendy xo

Sending our special memories of John, who we met six years ago at the Cambridge Bowling Club. John was an integral part of the club for many years, both as a skilled bowler and accomplished administrator.
Club archives shown the amazing contribution his love of the sport, as well as time and effort he bestowed to keep the club alive.
Rest in peace John. Our condolences to Jenny and the Payne family.
Jeff and Margaret Stott 💐
Hello Jeff and Margaret, thank you for your kind words. Dad loved his bowls. When he called me, I always received an update about his tournaments or upcoming games. He was super proud when he won his games, as I was proud of him too. When he first joined the club he was one of youngest members. He met a lot of wonderful people through bowls. Thank you for message. Wendy
Remembering our good mate John, we had some memorable times in Dunedin & on holiday with all the boys!! We will miss you. Alan and Lorraine Motueka.
Hello Alan and Lorraine, thank you for your kind words. I loved hearing stories from Dad’s holidays especially in Motueka/Nelson region. Wendy
