Peter Waugh:
Peter was born in 1941 of Scottish Heritage. He has worked in many parts of the horticulture industry in New Zealand. Over his life he developed many skills that enabled he and his wife to start, build and run a successful and key supplier to the Horticultural sector of NZ. He never forgot his humble beginnings and was always returning back to the industry.
IPPS was natural fit for Peter as it allowed him to share his knowledge and skills and also gave him an avenue to assist those in need. He was a leader in IPPS NZ, then became a major contributor to the Japan Region. Around 2000 he joined the Australian region and soon became a constant face at all Australian conferences. After a few years he became a board member of Australian Region and was a regular contributor. However it is the contributions he made to younger members and in raising funds for IPPS through his auctioneering that will be his legacy.
Peter was quick to give of his time, his money and his knowledge to any that needed it. Patience, tolerance and a gentle kindness were his trademarks and he always brought a sense of calm to those around him. He was the epitome of an IPPS member and embodied all that is good in the Society. He was a great man with an humble disposition and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
